Pillow For Toilet Paper

Pillow for Toilet Paper is a functional piece of soft sculpture. Clear vinyl, often found in most bathrooms as shower curtain liners, is sewn into an exacting shape to cradle the toilet paper. An acrylic rod holds the toilet paper roll and sticks to the vinyl structure for a secure grip. Goose down is used to fill and support the structure without adding additional weight. The goose down also provides an animalistic texture and sense of movement behind the walls of clinical vinyl. The overall impression is a surreal pillow sculpture that is plush and inviting, yet somewhat disconcerting.

Pillow for Toilet Paper was shown at Under / Over (East), a group exhibition of Toilet Paper Holders hosted across several locations in New York City from November 13 – December 31, 2021 presented by Marta and PlantPaper
